So not only do I get to celebrate all month long, but can take advantage of the great weather and enjoy the outdoors, what a fabulous way to have a good time!Just think, 4th of July is right around the corner, perhaps some rest and relaxation should be on the calendar for July? Outdoor Weddings- Nature, Sun and Preparation, OH MY!
Having an outdoor wedding seems so natural, beautiful and effortless, but hold onto your hat’s because things could get a little windy.A bit of prep work up front will ensure a seamless and enjoyable wedding day.
Having a backup plan is a key element to success.Yes, having the perfect outdoor venue means having the perfect indoor venue on hold just in case. It can be as simple as holding the ceremony at the indoor reception site you already have or renting a tent that has adjustable sturdy and thick sides. Without exception there should be a backup plan in place no matter what it is.
A little comfort goes a long way.Windy, sunny, hot, chilly, mother nature plays some really funny games.Having some ice cold water bottles, fans, or umbrellas will go a long way with sweltering guests.Sunscreen and bug repellent are appreciated added touches as well.Let’s not forget about spring and fall when chilly and windy temps can sneak into a perfectly planned day.For these little surprises, lap blankets, shawls and portable heaters can do the trick.Just keep in mind the location and what you would enjoy having if you were a guest, such as flip flops on a hot sandy beach.
Where or where did my wedding go?Finding the ideal outdoor spot is a tricky thing. You love your parent’s home and the beautiful garden, but do they have enough space for a tent, enough bathrooms, or a big enough kitchen for the caterer? The state park is perfect but, you may not be able to bring in chairs or a speaker system. Many public and private venues have site managers that can talk to you about any restrictions, or other concerns such as; permits, alcohol, parking, indoor or outdoor plumbing, electricity, noise, smoking, etc.Address all the issues before making any solid plans and you will be able to enjoy the great outdoors.
A wedding day surprise! Yeah? Some wedding day surprises will melt your heart, a special gift perhaps, but some will melt your guests.Be sure to arrange the ceremony so the guests have the sun at their backs and not in there eyes.Your ceremony starts and the beautiful waves start to roll in and that is all the guests can hear.A sound system will ensure everyone hears your beautiful vows.Who knew that the sprinklers were scheduled to go off just as you walked back down the aisle with your new spouse, talk about all wet!The caterer prepared a beautiful meal but the potato salad has now been sitting outside for a while, talk about a green wedding.Don’t let these surprises ruin your day, ask questions and when your done, ask some more!
